A Rough Start

Yesterday was the start of my trip. I was supposed to fly Dallas- London – Istanbul- Prishtina. However, as we were sitting on the plane in Dallas, news started coming in about the suicide bombers at the Istanbul Airport. Our flight left Dallas 2 hours late because there were several of us onboard who were supposed to go on to Istanbul. Some people got off the plane, but I decided to stay on and continue to London…

I hate that we live in a world where cowards kill innocent civilians. It scares me, but it mainly makes me mad. My heart goes out to the families of the victims, and it terrifies me that it happened less than 24 hours before I was supposed to be there.

Once I arrived in London I was able to get wifi at the airport and connect with my sister Chelsea. She helped me book a flight for tomorrow so I can finally reach her, and she also put me in touch with her friend Sarah who offered me a place to stay for the night. Big shout out to Sarah for letting me stay in her flat! It saved me a lot of stress and money. Her flat is exactly what you think a cute London flat would look like. Below are a few photos. And I think it was meant to be for this English teacher, because Holmes road is right across the street.
